The PCB Drafting is committed to designing printed circuit boards
from a schematic using
Mentor
(formerly Veribest) tools. For a smooth design flow it
is best if the engineer/designer make the schematic using the schematic
editor provided by Mentor
(Design Capture) and parts provided by this group. The design would then be
passed to this group for completion. The success of the design will (must)
include a close working relationship with the engineers/designers on every
aspect of the design.
In order for the design to
start, a list of new parts should be submitted to the librarian so that the
designer can pick the parts from the central library. A list may be presented
by email or personally. Please include data sheets. There is an extensive library
of parts to choose from (approximately 6500), but almost all designs will
require some new parts to be added to the library. The librarian can complete
a small list of parts in a day or two, depending on complexity and
availability of data sheets. There is no rule that requires the engineer to
have this group make the parts, however, the job will likely compile better
with parts used from the central library. It is recommended that the
seed job (starting job) be used to start a job.
