In this lecture I will discuss the results of multidisciplinary experiments aimed to elucidate neural mechanisms of cognitive processing.  Psychological, neuro-physiological, functional neuroimaging and modeling studies have provided partially overlapping, converging views on this problem with respect to both brain space and temporal evolution of processing.  Special emphasis will be given to the evaluation of this multidisciplinary approach and the advancement in knowledge it has led to.
