Lasers in High Energy
Physics
We review the ubiquitous
applications of lasers in high energy electron accelerators: as
photo-injectors, for elegant diagnostics, and for the generation of high energy
photons. We next discuss the search for
low mass particles through the interaction of laser beams with transverse
magnetic fields. We conclude with remarks about laser acceleration of electrons
and protons and the status of the most intense available laser sources.
